권두현 작가의 작품에는 바람이 붑니다. 현재 우리가 올라타고 있는 이 바람은, 언젠가 우리를 어떤 곳으로 데려다줄 것입니다. 끝내 닿게 될 그 풍경은 내 뜻대로 되는 순간이 아주 적더라도 그 과정마저 기쁨으로 바꾸어 놓습니다. 갤러리 유정은 결국 각자의 자리에 닿게 될 것이라는 믿음에서 시작되었습니다.

갤러리 유정의 첫 오프닝 전시는, 권두현 작가의 전시 시리즈 〈너비와 길이와 높이와 깊이〉의 시즌 1, 〈너비〉입니다. 이 전시는 단순히 작품을 나열하는 자리가 아니라, 권두현 작가가 오랜 시간 쌓아온 깊은 예술 세계를 담아내기 위한 첫 그릇이자, 갤러리 유정이 세상과 처음 맺는 약속입니다. 이곳에서 우리는 작품을 통해 잠시 멈춰 서서 삶의 시간을 바라보고자 합니다.

전시가 시작되는 2월 4일은 입춘입니다. 봄의 문턱에서 새순이 돋아나듯, 이 전시는 다시 시작과 회복을 이야기하고자 합니다. 그리고 이 주제는 이 공간이 태어난 이유이기도 합니다. 상실의 시간 속에서 저는, 세상을 이해하기보다 나 자신을 더 깊이 들여다보게 되었습니다. 그 과정에서 깨달은 것은, 가장 힘들 때 우리를 일으키는 힘은 결국 소망에서 비롯된다는 사실이었습니다. 이 전시는 바로 그 소망을, 한 사람의 경험을 넘어 모두의 이야기로 확장하고자 합니다.

이 전시는 관객을 그런 여정으로 초대합니다. 각 작품 앞에 머무는 시간 속에서 떠오르는 감정과 생각들은, 결국 풍경을 통해 비치는 나 자신의 모습일지도 모릅니다. 잊고 있었던 기억을 떠올리고, 존재하는지도 몰랐던 희망을 발견하며, 전시를 보고 돌아가는 길에 하나의 의문이 확신으로, 커다란 걱정이 작은 희망의 방향으로 옮겨진다면, 이 전시는 이미 제 역할을 다한 것입니다.

빠르게 흘러가는 일상에서, 갤러리 유정은 잠시 멈출 수 있는 쉼의 공간이 되고자 합니다. 이곳에 들어온 모든 분들이 잠시라도 자신을 돌아보는 시간이 되었으면 합니다. 이 전시는 누군가의 삶을 말하는 전시가 아니라, 각자가 자기 자신에게 위로의 말을 건넬 수 있는 전시이기를 바랍니다.

The wind we are on now may one day lead us somewhere new. Even when the landscape ahead rarely unfolds as we expect, the journey itself can still become a source of joy. Gallery Ujung began with the belief that, in the end, each of us will find our way to where we belong.

Gallery Ujung’s inaugural exhibition is Width, the first chapter of Kwon Doo Hyun’s exhibition series, Width, Length, Height, and Depth. Rather than simply presenting a collection of works, the exhibition serves as the first space to hold the artistic world the artist has developed over many years. It is also Gallery Ujung’s first promise to the world. Here, we invite visitors to pause before the works and reflect on the course of their own lives.

The exhibition opens on February 4, Ipchun, the traditional beginning of spring. Just as new shoots emerge at the threshold of a new season, the exhibition speaks of renewal and recovery. These ideas are also closely connected to the reason this space was created.

During a time of loss, I found myself looking more deeply within rather than trying to understand the world around me. Through that experience, I came to realize that, in our most difficult moments, the strength that helps us rise again comes from hope. This exhibition seeks to carry that hope beyond one person’s experience and turn it into a story that can be shared by many.

The exhibition invites visitors to take part in this journey. The emotions and thoughts that arise while spending time with each work may, in the end, be reflections of ourselves seen through the landscape. If the exhibition brings back a forgotten memory, reveals a hope we did not know we still carried, or allows a question to become a sense of certainty and a great worry to shift toward even a small hope, then it has already fulfilled its purpose.

Amid the fast pace of everyday life, Gallery Ujung hopes to offer a place where visitors can pause and rest. We hope that everyone who enters will find, even for a moment, time to look inward.

This is not an exhibition about someone else’s life. It is an exhibition that invites each of us to offer a few words of comfort to ourselves.
